How to do shadow work for beginners

Step 1: Find a quiet place where you will not be disturbed.

Step 2: Close your eyes and take a few deep breaths.

Step 4: At the bottom of the staircase, you see a door.

10 practical exercises of Shadow Work for beginners:

  1. Write a letter to your shadow self. Introduce yourself and let your shadow self know that you are open to learning more about them. Ask them what they need from you and how you can support them.
  2. Journal about the things that you are most ashamed of. What are the things that you hide from others? What are the things that you are most afraid of people finding out about you?

  4. Make a list of your negative traits. What are the things that you don’t like about yourself? What are the things that you are working on improving?

  6. Meditate on the color black. Black is often associated with the shadow self. As you meditate, allow yourself to sink into the darkness and see what emerges.
  7. Dream analysis. Pay attention to your dreams and see if there are any recurring themes or symbols. What might your dreams be telling you about your shadow self?
